If you’re turning 65, Medicare enrollment is right around the corner. However, enrollment isn’t year-round. There are different enrollment periods to consider, each offering specific policies you can sign up for.

First, you must be eligible. One way to qualify is by age, and the other is based on how long you have been receiving disability benefits.
If you do not receive disability benefits, you first become eligible to enroll three months before turning 65.
If you get disability benefits, you will be automatically enrolled in Medicare after 24 consecutive months of receiving those benefits.
Unlike other types of health insurance, you will not have to worry about being disqualified or paying higher rates because of unfavorable health conditions.
