As for monthly premiums, the amounts vary based on earnings. This is determined through the Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). With this, your plan decides monthly payment amounts according to the reported income on your tax return two years prior. The higher the income, the higher your premiums may be.
How you filed also matters – the amounts for those filing individually, jointly, and married and separately affect payments differently.
For example, those filing individually (or married and separately) who earned $103,000 or less will have monthly payments of $174.70. Likewise, those who filed jointly with a reported income of $193,000 or less will also pay that amount per month.
On the other end, those who filed individually with a reported income of $500,000 and above will pay $594.00 per month. Those who filed jointly with an income of $750,000 and up, or married and separately with earnings of at least $397,000 will pay that same amount per month.
