Hello. This is Toni Buffington with Medicare Solutions. I specialize in Medicare.
Original Medicare Is Not Full Coverage
When you go on Original Medicare, you will soon find out that it doesn’t cover everything. It’s important to be aware of your options beyond Parts A and B—especially if you need coverage for dental and vision care, prescription drugs, hearing aids, etc. If you’re watching this, you are likely ready to sign up for additional coverage!
Let’s Talk About Medicare AEP
So today I want to talk about the Annual Enrollment/Election Period (AEP).
- What is it?
- Who is it for?
- What can we do?
- What can we not do?
Throughout the year, there are four different Medicare related enrollment periods. It can get confusing! I will help you understand them so you know when to enroll in the plan of your choice.
Some enrollment periods allow you to do some things, but not others. So what are we allowed to do?
When Is AEP?
Well, from October 15th through December 7th, anyone who has a Medicare Advantage plan can go back to Original Medicare. Or, if you have Original Medicare and you want to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan, that’s your opportunity as well as—if you are on an Advantage plan already and want to switch to another Advantage plan that may offer you better benefits.
